We’re at the stage of ‘Lasts’. This will be the Last time we visit Little Ragged Island, and I took a last walk on Little Ragged Island at Low Tide admiring the shallows, sand flats, little lagoon etc.
The wind has been very light
Nicholas has the table saw out and is making drawers for his new workshop
The water is so still that we can see our resident Barracudas quite clearly
It is now only KingFisher and Meshugga in the Little Ragged Cut, and we decided time for us to leave as well and head 5 miles north to Hog Cay
Arriving at Hog Cay, we are pleased to see our friends on Sojourn, Karen and Duane still here. Hog Cay Yacht Club Cruisers Hut ashore
Pretty view from the Lookout Point over Lobster Bay
All the way across the sand beach of Lobster Bay (you can see the beach in the above photo) to check out the new Trail to the Dilly Trees, which Maxine kindly helped show the Cruisers the way
Walls were taken down
The Dilly Trees, 2 huge trees, with only a few Sapodillas still on the tree, not yet large and ripe
I then retraced my steps and went up another new path to the Ruins on the Southern Hill, which Charm, Dean and Kris’s cut. I found them disappointing in that these were the only ruins.
Stunning view across the island showing both east and west bays
Expecting to find more Ruins, I followed the marked Trail further up the Hill, and onwards which turned out to be another Trail I heard about which Bookend, Cindy and Sam, marked and the trail headed to House Bay on the southern end of Hog Cay. The Trail was unpleasant, and very rocky, with lots of sharp rocks so I had to watch every step so I didn’t slip and injure myself. Not a Trail I will do again.
The end of the Trail however arrived at House Bay, next the Coconut Trees, which always yield us lots of fresh coconuts. Unfortunately one of the four trees have died!
Crossing back to Lobster Bay, I opted to take the Trail that Solaris, Chris and Goesha marked, and it now sports a Great Starting Point Statue
Meshugga is the only mast you can see over the hill. The other yachts masts are all too short!
A great 3.5 mile walk
That evening at Sundowners, Karen on Sojourn floated the idea that some of the older Cruisers, and those with dogs, are having difficulty accessing the Sojourn Trail from Middle Beach as you have to climb up cliff via a 45 Gallon drum and over some steep rocks to the start of the Trail. She suggested that we cut a new Trail coming down the gentle ridge to the north of the Cruisers Hut.
The following day, Duane and Karen Trail-blazed thru the scrub and marked a proposed Trail and the day after I joined them (and for another 2 days), cutting the undergrowth to make the half mile path.
This is an example of the natural undergrowth we had to cut through
View over the yachts at anchor
Thanks Karen for the photo
